Renfrewshire Council
School Captains 2011/2012
Welcome to our new look website which, we hope, gives you some insight into the life and work of Kersland. In Kersland we pride ourselves on our ability to bring out the best in all of our pupils by providing a curriculum which is built around the learning needs of the individual and offers opportunities for success in all areas of learning and development. Our pupils are very important to us and their achievements, however small, make our job worthwhile. However we can’t do it on our own! We need the ongoing support of all our parents, carers and partners if we are going to make sure Kersland remains the happiest and most stimulating educational establishment in Scotland. Enjoy the virtual visit by using the drop-down menu above or why not have a look at our new VIRTUAL TOUR and maybe we’ll see you in the flesh soon - visitors are most welcome and our school captains, pictured here, will be happy to show you around!

Best Wishes, Carol

As part of their RME topic some of the senior pupils have been looking at the Hindu festival of Holi over the last term.  As part of this course of work we were visited by Yosef, Gora and Mika from The Koh-I-Noor restaurant in New Sneddon Street, Paisley.  The team worked with some of the pupils from rooms 8 and 9 to make some amazing tasting Pakora, Poppadoms, Mango Chutney and Spiced Onions.  The pupils worked really hard and Yosef even said he would need to think about offering them a job when he saw how professional they were. Take a look at them hard at work in our photo gallery.

“Kersland is a place where you can be confident that the enthusiastic staff work together to help your child reach their potential and achieve more than you ever dreamed was possible.”

The wait is finally over and we can proudly reveal that all five quality indicators were judged to be Excellent by HMIE during our inspection in June. We are the first school in our sector to achieve this and we are glad that the hard work of all our pupils and staff has been recognised. Click the logo above to read the inspection report.

Watch out Pixar, Lyndsay is coming!!  Lyndsay Hunter in Rm 8 has always been a keen artist and over the past year she has moved from simple cartoon drawings to great computer animations which she does both in class and in her leisure time.  Click on the icon above to have a look at some of her great movies, we are sure you will agree she has a real talent!
There is a national review of services for pupils with additional support needs, The Doran Review, which has just launched its own website and blog, click on the links to find out more and have your say.

We are a sporty bunch here at Kersland and we have the video to prove it!  In addition to our weekly P.E. sessions we also attend lots of swimming, football and other sporting events throughout the year.  Click here to see some of us in action!
